I don't have onstar so I bought a fog light switch and wired that to the on/off of the hands free and put it were the onstar goes. Cons are that you have to hear the phone ring and then turn the hands free on to activate.
I recently changed to a Parrot bluetooth system and it does everything. When a call comes in the radio mutes. Also connection is automatic. I can have my phone in my pocket and I just enter the car and it connects by itself. Nothing to press or connect and no wires. Definately worth it.
