Got a lot of 02 9-5s here in Moscow on dealer lots so had a lot of opportunities to examine... I am not discussing what's under the hood - just the looks. The front looks very nice (very grand in silver and red, a bit worse in black and blue, and, agree, much better than the pictures overall), the back, in my opinion has unreasonable changes. As for the 'aluminium' dash - well, that's dubious... It is not metal, its PLASTIC, and not quite the best kind. I saw one dash like that on a dealer accessory stand, well, no wonder its only half the price of a wood dash or a carbon fibre dash. Cheapo. May look nice from afar, but that's about it.
At the same time, the new wood dashboards that are matte instead of high gloss are very sophisticated and elegant. I Loved it (used to hate the glossy one; changed it to a carbon fibre on my 99 9-5 Griffin).
Another concern is if you bang up your front or back bumper now, you get to do twice as much bodywork due to integrated grill and backside.
Xenon lights + clear lenses very nice (however wipers would do a lot better in Moscow streets), and the new back lights do not irritate.
regards
Yury
