On a turbo engine, the best backpressure is the least you can get. Before jumping to any conclusions that the exhaust is the cause of your problem, you need to perform boost pressure adaptation as described in the attached link. This process needs to be performed whenever something is changed that affects the engine's breathing ability.
Perhaps your low-end 'oomph' is the same, but you get more from 3000 and up, so it seems like you've lost on the low end?
Perhaps you have a tank of poor gas?
Perhaps it's hotter than it was a few weeks ago - this has a dramatic effect on low end performance (certainly I notice it on my '01 LPT).
Ideally, before and after any performance modification, a dynamometer test under controlled conditions needs to be performed. The typical butt-dyno is notoriously fickle.
