Bear in mind that all of these numbers below are approximations:

Add roughly $35/mo. to go from a 48 mo. lease to a 36 mo. lease. Then consider the difference in the out of pocket. You paid $3100 + the Saab coupon - $500, I think, totaling $3600. He would only pay $800, so the difference is $2800. At 4% interest, that would be $63/mo. over 48 months, or $83 over 36 mo.

So your payment for a 36 mo. lease with $3100 out of pocket + the Saab certificate would have been $497. (379 +35 +83). Then consider that the residuals have certainly dropped from Aug. to Nov.

I don't know what the residuals are, but this represents about a $2100 difference, or about 5 points on the residual.

Seems to me that after adjusting for the term, the out of pocket costs and the residual, BJ Hammell still got a better deal than what peter is being offered.

Just my 2 cents.
