Hi Mike,
Well, perhaps "budget" wasn't the best way to describe what I'm thinking. When I started looking for a replacement car I was amazed by how quickly Saabs depreciated. There are a lot of 9-5 wagons out there that are comparably priced or less expensive than a similar model year/mileage Subaru. So the initial purchase price was very "budget" friendly. Even with an aftermarket extended warranty, which I've been researching by reading old threads but haven't nailed down yet, the Saab 9-5 is within my price range.
I'm still researching and have learned a great deal about the repairs I might expect should I choose a MY2000 9-5 2.3 lpt with 70K-100K miles. After narrowly avoiding buying the MY1999 car with the bad motor, I'm proceeding a lot more slowly and looking for a car with good maintenance record documentation. I'm still interested in hearing what people have to say about this particular choice re: personal experience and what I can expect.
Thanks again in advance - I really appreciate the resources available on this BB.
Stacy
