Here is one for you. I just completed my first road trip in my CPO 03 9-5 Arc (now 18K miles). The trip length was almost 700 miles. I traveled from Kennewick, Wa to Blaine Wa., this included several mountain passes. I averaged 27.5 mpg using only Chevron 92 octane gasoline, and the new PZero-Neros M&S’s (225/45/17’s) were great on good pavement and less than great on not so great pavement (noise).

However, when coming down a steep dry mountain pass (with the cruise set at 75 mph) I looked at my gauges and noticed that the Turbo gauge was in the mid-orange and that the car was trying to accelerate and it seemed that the brakes were on?!? I put the car into neutral and it slowed down so rapidly that I am certain that the brakes were being activated. Trust me this thing just wanted to stop! I was even passed by a person on a ten speed bicycle, a rather nice looking bike, but it still passed me and he/she wasn’t even peddling!!! I put the car back into drive and gave it a lot of gas and it started to accelerate but slowly (remember I was going a down a steep hill). If my memory serves me I had to disengage the cruise and then it took off like the speed demon that it is.

I have had other of instances where I felt like the car was fighting its own brakes but I have just thought that it was me unfairly comparing this Auto to my ever-so-faithful Accord. (Has any one experience that?) Also there was tons of brake dust on the front rims. This car is fairly new to me so any ideas would be appreciated. Also this auto has had the issues where the warning lights (ABS, TCS, brake, etc) have come on, but the Speedo never has given out.

I have called Carter SAAB in Seattle but their service advisers didn’t have a clue!!! I mean Dumb!!!! I know that this harsh but for me it was true. There is a woman there who just needs training and a lot of it! Sales was great ….service a complete disappointment, quite frankly I couldn’t get them to return phone call within 24 hours. And the one time that they did, I was called by a person whom admitted that he wasn’t an adviser, but called because I had called my sells person with the complaint that I couldn’t get thru to service and someone had to respond. Hopefully this is just a phase…can anyone give me input to Carter Saab in Seattle or Jaremko Saab in Spokane, and better yet has anyone had this brake issue. Thanks in advance Larry
