Cadillac Catera used the same basic engine as well as the Saturn V-6. Don't kmow if either of those Dealers would do the belt on a SAAB? I believe to DIY, you need some fairly expensive tools? I saw a kit for sale once on Ebay and it included an alignment piece to get the crankshaft in the proper position and some locking assemblies to hold the 4-cam pulleys in the correct position. The idler and tensioner have eccentrics one them which affect the cam-timing of each of the 4 camshafts. The engine is a Vauxhall, made in England. Maybe there are some distributors for the tool set? I found some interesting information from Gates Corporation. Paste the following in your Google search and open the PDF that it finds. "gates cam belt GM 3.0" The moral of the story is the job has to be done correctly by whoever attempts it. It is an interference engine! I don't believe all SAAB Dealers are even competent in doing the job correctly? I've heard of failures shortly after the belt replacement which tells me the belt, tensioner, and idler pulley wasn't setup correctly. Sad story is my SAAB V-6 will need a belt in the next 8,000 miles. Of course the idler and tensioner need to be replaced at the same time. I do have a 1999 Catera Shop manual set which explains the procedure to replace the cam belt. I could send you copies of that section if you would like?
