Help sorting out a vibration at idle

Hi
My 2001 9.5 4cyl auto has developed a slight vibration at idle. It only appears when the car is in gear. It also disappears once the car is moving. I did notice what appears to be a liquid possible liquid emanating from the right vibration damper. I was wondering if this upper vibration damper could be my problem.
I believe the 9.5 auto has two vibration dampers one by the top left cam chain side and one below the battery. Can they easily be tested? Could excessive movement due to a failed motor mount be stressing the vibration damper? The upper mount on my 1991 9000 automatic went once but it failed because a lower engine mount had just about disintegrated. Once I replaced both mounts on the 9000 the car was as smooth as the day I bought it. I would just hate to buy a new upper mount for ~$250 and have it fail due to the above or not cure the problem at all.
Thank you in advance
Susan
