I can't say how it holds up over the long term. So far there is not even the slightest mark on the StonGard on my 9 month old Aero Wagon (11,000 miles). However, I do not drive much at night, and my DRLs are disabled, so the headlight wipers have not been very active.
Here is a direct quote from StonGard's warranty statement:
"LIMITED WARRANTY. StonGard Inc. warrants to the original consumer purchaser (hereafter you or your), and no other person or entity, that the StonGard® Light product you purchased is free from defects, will conform to the product description provided with the StonGard® Light product, and will remain clear and not yellow for the life of your vehicle."
I believe that, _if_ you had the light covers installed by an authorized StonGard shop, they would replace them under warranty if they became scratched by the wipers, but it would be a good idea to verify that. Perhaps you could e-mail StonGard and ask them directly what their experience has been:
customerservice@stongard.com
Even if they do need to be replaced every 3 or 4 years, it would still be far cheaper than replacing broken headlights!
