Martin, the dealer I speak of is in Calgary. I had previously leased a Isuzu through them so I had fair warning and first hand experience about the service. When I bought my Volvo wagon in 99 (which I still have) I was looking at the Saab wagon as well. The Volvo salesman told me to watch the service with Saab. At the time I thought it was just a sales tactic but I now know what he was getting at. The technicians seem to do a good job once the car is in the shop. The problems I have is with the delivery of the service, put on hold, they don't return calls, poor booking of appointments and general attitude. I must admit since I went up one side of them and down the other both personally and with the customer service questionaire it does seem to be getting better as long as they know who I am. The salesman has acknowledged my questionaire comments and ensures me that managment is taking them seriously. I have had no problems at all with sales or parts departments.
Don't let the service get in the way of owning/leasing a great car. I knew the service I was going to get but picked up the Saab anyway and crossed my fingers. I just keeping bringing up what exceptional service I get at Volvo and that gets them riled ;).
