what are the notches supposed to do?
If they are supposed to actually catch on the radio, to help pull it out, how do you remove the tools when you're done?
Some radios are extremely tight. It doesn't take much to depress the tabs, but I had one radio that I simply could not budge by merely grabbing hold of the cassette opening with my hand. Ended up using a plastic putty knife, wedging side to side of the radio against the dash opening while pulling with other hand on cassette opening.
