I also have a bike and a 9-5 Linear wagon 5-speed. I did the research on this.
You definitely have the wrong trailer in mind. For some reason, the steel heavyweights are always being pushed on us motorcyclists. But there are all-aluminum trailers that weigh only 200-300 lbs and can carry almost a ton. If you have the basic hitch, you can still keep the gross weight under the 1,000 lb. limit and carry your bike with stuff.
