I had been having the same problem with my iPod too. I went to crutchfield.com and bought a Sosche wired FM modulator. It basically plugs into the back of your radio where the FM antenna plugs in and then you plug the FM antenna into the modulator. I had to get a couple european adapters for the radio but overall it was less than $100. Plug the iPod into it via the .8mm plug and tune the radio to 88.1 and it works very well. I took my glovebox out and disconnected the useless A/C tube that runs into it. I put the modulator in the glovebox and have the wires running through the A/C hole. You have to connect it to a ground and then splice into the 12v jack for power. Sound quality is like a crystal clear FM station. I like it a lot. Let me know if you're interested and I can dig up the model numbers of the adapters I used. You could always to it the easy (but more expensive way) and get a Trollpod/Audiotroll (I forget what they're called now) too.
