going from the older turbo Saabs to the newer. The 9-5 Aero *is* faster than your 9000, but the power delivery is much more smooth and spread out over the RPM range and it doesn't feel as fast because instead of a sudden kick in the rear you just get steadily pushed back in your seat. The only way to tell that it's faster is by looking at the speedo and timing it.
It's the same experience I had with a BMW M3 I drove. I was thoroughly unempressed when I drove it compared to my 9000, but then I looked at the speedo. It doesn't have that turbo kick at all, but it's still quicker.
