boards (Volvo, VW & Audi's). I've decided on one of these two tires, just not sure what size, and about the extra $$ between them. What are your thoughts?
Firestone SZ50 EP, 340 AA A, Ultra High Performance
225/50/16 $157
225/55/16 $149
--- or ---
Yok's AVS DB, 320 AA, Ultra High Performance All-Season
225/50/16 $102
225/55/16 $103

Tire Racks survey shows higher rating numbers for the Ultra High Perfomance, including wet traction and hydroplaning? Can I relate these numbers to the All-Season tire ratings? Or could a lower rating in the All-Season, still equate to a higher grip and hydroplane protection? Almost a $200 increase to get the SZ50 EP's, I don't mind paying the difference, if the tires are really that much better??

From what I can see, both tires get good comments on most boards. Some comments about earlier wear on the SZ50 EP, with the higher wear rating. The AVS DB's had a few comments about increase tire noise, as the tires get about half way through their life span.

Size? Will the wider 225 size, still work with the 55 profile? (The loss in performance between the 50 & 55 is ok - this is my wife's daily transpotation)
Ok, you can see that I'm still slightly confused between the two tires. I get the impression that both tires are great. I'm just looking for the best safety edge I can provide...
Thanks for reading my long ramblings, and I look forward to your input!!
Happy Holidays to all - and Scott, thanks for such a great board!
