These are things that can happen with too brave DIY (but little knowledge) or too cheap shops.
When the two surfaces would have made contact, it would have slowly tilted the pads so you wouldn't have lost brake force all suddenly if that is some consolation.
When we are talking about the Akebono pads on this board, it is EXTREMELY important that you keep the off the shelf ones and the genuine Saab ones seperated in discussing wear indicators or not.
The genuine Saab (Akebono) ones does not have indicators (as of now, but that might change, who knows).
The whole pad from Saab DOES NOT look like the Akebono pad you buy from another store.
