dont dread code 08 Posted by bobc [Email] (#473) [Profile/Gallery] (more from bobc) on Wed, 30 May 2007 21:19:41 In Reply to: A/C Code 8 prevention?, Kevin Rhodes, Wed, 30 May 2007 19:40:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I think that code 08 gets a bad rap from the days when it seemed like the only option was to replace the entire heater box to the tune of $2000 or more.
its an actually pretty simple fix. You probably know that code 08 can be from the broken stop arm OR from a broken blend door shaft.
So you *could* install the updated plastic stop arm or the aluminum stop arm preemptively. but that wont prevent the blend door shaft from breaking.
OR you *could* hacksaw your perfectly good blend door shaft and install the aluminum shaft repair (with integrated stop arm). this would surely prevent either piece from breaking.
