Hi gang,
20K miles ago I purcahsed a set of Avon M550 tires. After 20K, 10K of which were driven with negative camber in the rear, they are loud, wobbly, worn out, scalloped and they won't let me forget they're there because they make the car sound like i've got a jet turbines under the car.
Recently I've developed some wobbling at certain speeds and if I'm going to pay the $$ for balance and alignment I might as well do it on newer tires. Last winter I COULDNT get moving from stoplights in moderate snow...this is not dedicated rubber but I didn't expect that. I'm sick and tired of always buying crap for the landrocket but Tirerack gave me 20% off a set of tires plus they are giving me a $50 AMEX cash card... I don't want to spend the money, because I do have rubber around my rims but I know I'll have to do it, if not today then in two months and I'm wondering if the vibration is contributing to the bad gas mileage I've been getting lately...
I put Bridgestone Potenza G009 tires on my girlfriends car and wow! Big time surprise, they were great in the winter and are still silent and competent, 460AA treadwear rating, good reviews.. but I'm a bit weary of purchasing a bridgestone tire...g009s are only high performance and not ultra high performance will I see the difference in spirited driving?
Please talk me into buying these tires! :) I really need new rubber and am always looking for a deal.
139 price*.80= 111.2 after 20% discount less 12.5 ($50 amex card/4) = $98.7 per tire.
