At last...rear speakers!!!!

After owning our base 9-5 for a year, I finally added the much needed rear speakers. (Thanks to the members of this board for their advice on this topic.) It’s not that the Pioneer sound system is bad, it’s incomplete. The audio specialist I consulted was as dumfounded as I am as to why Saab chose to put two speakers in the rear doors instead of installing two speakers in the rear deck on the 7 speaker system. We are delighted with our 9-5 but one has to admit, this arrangement is not up to the standards of the car, or others in its class. Actually, much less expensive cars have better sound systems as standard equipment. BUT, 600$ (372 US $) later, it’s another story. We opted for two 6x9 2 channel JBL speakers with cross overs, coupled to a 70 watt per channel amplifier by Power Acoustik. The result is great and enhances the otherwise adequate system. The music now fills the cabin and we can have a rear presence if desired. Perhaps I will install a filter as there is still a very, very faint buzz coming from the engine at low volume. We already installed a diode after the connection to the main amp (found along the passenger side wheel well) because we were getting a return current from the new amp. And now, let the music play!
