Soon after posting my message, I had to replace the upper pulley and belt on my daughter's 99 9-3. Much easier than on my 9000's. Only had to remove right wheel, access panel in fender liner and air cleaner. Only problem was idler pulley was changed mid year and NAPA only had the wrong one in stock on a Sunday. Had to wait and go to SAAB dealer Monday. I'm also going to change my other daughters 99 9-3 as a PM- before failure. I saw descriptions of removing part of upper engine mount. There is none on the 99's. What years does this pertain too? The tensioner pulley was fine. Is the idler pulley the main problem?
I know my Viggen and 9-5 Aero have the mount- but they are 2.3L B235. I know the pulleys are weak on 9000, NG 900 and 9-3's. Should I expect the same on the Viggen and 9-5?
