Ugh....plastic again. A few weeks ago I posted a note, triggered by the fuel pump clips replacement, about Saab parts made of plastic that should be made of metal. Window rollers, fuel pump clip, ACC blend door arm.....and now here's another. Three or four people have posted in this note and a related note that Saab covered body damage to the tune of $700-$800 each time. I'm sure there are many others.
And even if there's no damage, Saab has to run a campaign to replace the clips with.....TA DA!....metal.
So, my question is, did the savings on the cheap plastic parts equal or surpass the replacement parts cost, the recalls, the campaigns, the loaners, the body work and the labor incurred by the failure of the cheap parts? C'Mon Saab...metal!
