Okay, I pulled off the starter and it seemed fine, hooked up the battery out of the car to test and everything seems fine (with no load). So probably not the starter.
I tried to rotate the engine with a socket on the crank pulley again, and it still would not rotate completely, but it does move a tiny bit. I took off the serpantine belt and took out the spark plugs to take any load/compression off, and no change. I can move the crankshaft pulley about 10 degrees back and forth, but it stops after that and I can't move it any further. I confirmed the pistons and starter flywheel are moving the tiny bit also, so the engine isn't completely seized, but somethings definately wrong.
So my question is what's the best move now? Could my timing chain have gone and now somethings interfering? What's the best way to tell, pull the timing cover off (and if so, is it a huge deal?), or pull the valve cover and/or oil pan off?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Before this all happened, the car seemed to run fine when it was last shut off.
Thanks,
Dave
