Brake Fluid Reservoir Cap broken

Anyone ever had this problem? The ring of the cap is screwed on tight but the plunger part with the electrical lead attached is sitting in there loose and disconnected from the ring. For the time being, I put a tape seal around it. Am I missing something (not so) obvious? The dealer doesn't stock the part (old 4836763, new 3495503) and online I have only found it on thesaabsite. TIA.
