Swedecar,
Thanks for the advice. This puts me at easy a little. One correction. The motor is from a 2002 Vue.
I have been turning the motor counterclockwise from the flywheel side of the shaft. It turns fairly easy except when I reach the point of compression and then I slow down a bit but it turns over without a problem. If I try to turn it over clockwise from the flywheel side I do reach a point of resistance. I believe it is off two teeth as well. I guess I was just a little suprised the belt was off and wanted someone else's opinion.
I may have made a mistake on the timing belt kit. I bought the kit for a '99 Saab 9-5 when I probably should have bought the component kit for the 2002 Saturn Vue. The one I bought at Rock Auto is the Gates TCK285. They list the kit for the Saturn as the TCK285BP. I wonder what the BP stands for?
