Stephanie, Based upon my experience with my 2000 AERO, the alarm and the accompanying SID message will continue to remind you of the fact that the alarm needs to be serviced; the batteries need to be changed.
According to the other people who have dealt with the alarm issue, pulling fuse #14 will will disable the alarm but it will also disable your vehicle's A/C system; I did not pull fuse #14 so I don't know if the interior fan is effected. Pulling fuse #14 is a simple enough procedure so, give it a try to see if the interior fan is effected. Remember that the fuse in question, #14, is located under the vehicle's hood and is not fuse #14 in the interior fuse panel.
I bought the replacement alarm batteries from a company which was mentioned by a person who posted an "alarm fix' on this site. I removed the alarm unit from my vehicle by following the instructions also posted on the site, and took the unit to an electronics/computer repair shop for the battery installation. After reinstalling the alarm unit, all has been well- it's now been one year since the replacement.
Since your vehicle's alarm can easily be opened up to replace the batteries and they are available, repair of this component is really quite simple.
Search the site for Service Theft Alarm information- it's here and it's very complete too.
Good Luck!
