Interesting -- I have an 03 Aero with 57K miles too. I can understand that you're unhappy with the whole situation, the time and hassles it's cost you and the feeling that the integrity of your car has somehow been diminished. But it sounds like an honest shop that paid dearly for their mistake. They found an engine with nearly equal mileage and I doubt they were trying to save money. The price of a 40K used engine isn't much different from that of a 63K engine.
They replaced the gaskets, the fluids, checked for sludge, etc. Sound like you can drive the car with confidence and may have come out with an engine in better shape that one that fried.
Unfortunately, our great 57K 03's don't have much resale value, so just drive the thing for another 150K miles and enjoy the relatively low-cost, fast ride.
