SwedeCar,
You are great. It looks like I have mounted a early model tensioner/pulley on a '02 and later engine. It makes sense as the belt on cam 1 and 2 have two sets of markings so the original tensioner/pulley setup will utilize the other markings.
I don't see why I can't use the original '02 Vue tensioner/pulley mount plate with the new tensioner/ pulley. The tensioner and pulley seem identical. I realize this is not the recommended way but I bought these parts about six months ago and I doubt they will return them.
I am a professional woodworker that understands the pain of customers trying to cut costs. As a professional mechanic I can see the little costs saved by getting cheaper parts causes more headaches than its worth. I am the same as you in my profession. If it saves the customer a few dollars but wastes my time or creates warranty concerns then I don't want to be a part of it.
Sadly I don't have a lot of money to spend on a newer car(my current car is a '86 volvo 240 wagon bought new by my mother) so I have to be a little creative with this project. The end results may be good or bad. I let you know.
Matt
