aim the jet. The jet is essentially a ball with a hole inside a socket, you can aim the jet by moving it in its socket with the pin in the hole as leverage (look at the nozzle up close and you would see what I mean).
You really don't have to move the jet much to aim, so you may have to get the hang of it by how much you need to move. Do the aiming with the car on level ground, preferably outside the garage or you end up with washer fluid puddles in the garage when you're done 8-). While you're at it, use the pin to ream the side of the jet to clear out deposits and such. After cleaning the nozzle, you may have to re-aim the jets again.
No, you can't make it into a fan spray like some cars do, unless someone makes a different type of nozzle for the car.
