I had the turbo replaced at 49K in my 2000, 2.3l, 5 speed 9-5. (Infamous blue smoke at start up.) After a long story, (that I won't bother anyone with regarding the wrong ECU being put into the car along with the turbo change, leading to a variety of dubiously necessary replacement parts, including ABS ECU, O2 sensor, hub sensors and numerous open codes) the technicians finally figured it all out, that it was only the turbo, and that they had put in the wrong ECU, the car was repaired.

While it seems to be running very well, I am noticing what would sound to be an exhaust manifold 'growl' from time to time, that comes and goes with hard acceleration, and is particularly noticable on clutching. I have not observed any obvious manifold or exhaust leaks.

Being non-plussed by the diagnostic capabilities of the Saab techs I have worked with recently, I am fishing for possibilities on the board as to the origins of this growl, so that I can point the technician in the right direction.
