"Adjustment" period - I guess that's the correct term. I noticed immediately after switching from Saab oil to Mobil 1 that the car would smoke slightly on startup. I mean immediately, as in starting the car after the first oil change to check for leaks (I do the changes myself). White smoke, not the dreaded blue (=bad turbo) smoke. After two changes now with Mobil 1 the smoke seems to have dissapated. Some have said on this board that the fully synthetic oil will remove contaminants from the engine after a switch, and that's the reason for the smoke. Others have commented that the smoke is from condensation. Although the smoke is definitely heavier than condensation, I will say that at times after an abrupt weather change (ex. cold winter, then a warm snap) the car will occasionally smoke a bit, but nowhere near as often as it did previously. That could be condensation. Other than that, no real difference from dino oil, except that I feel good that I'm giving the engine max protection. I change oil and filter (AC Delco Ultraguard Gold) ev. 5,000 miles too. A little extreme maybe, but changing the oil is theraputic for me :-)
