Broken headlamp wiper.... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Fri, 29 Feb 2008 13:34:07 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Well, it happened today. I left work with both headlamp wipers in the parked position, used the washer mode extensively on the ride home due to today's snowfall and subsequent heavy salting of roads. I got home and saw the driver's side headlamp wiper is pointing at the 11 o'clock position.
I tried the washer mode while parked in the drive and the driver's wiper does not move. Trying to gently move it manually I hear a click-click sound and a very few degrees of movement. The passenger wiper does not move with the same manual effort.
A new wiper transmission is $250. Yikes! Are there posted instructions anywhere for D-I-Y repair? I am guessing a broken gear (single tooth maybe?) inside the drive mechanism.
Thanks!
