Next 9-3 was started before his tenure, but as chief designer he has significant impact on it. I do not tink that anything else in the world of automobiles can be compared to the Aztek. Let's face it" What in the world were they thinking?"
Apparently, for all of it's difficulties with how it looks, the Aztek still scores high in IQS surveys with it's owners, and those who have been able to see beyond it's fugly looks apparently like the thing. Go figure!
In any case,I think that Mr. Mauer will do Ok for SAab in the long run.
I would not rush to judgement on the basis of concept cars anyway since by definition, they can not always be produced as drawn. I have a copy of Saab's official 2002 calendar which has different views of the 9X on each month, and quite frankly, from some views it is very impressive,particularly the front and rear shots. It is the side and three quarter views that are a bit awkward.
