My Alternator went as well at about 100K miles. In my case the bearing went. if the indy is as reputable as you say, ask him about getting a rebuild done on your alternator.
My indy rebuilt mine since it was extremely expensive to get a 130A Bosch alternator new.
Other thing to make sure of the is that the battery itself is not bad. My other Saab had the battery go and the alternator is a little low on its output. Not enough to warrant a replacement but enough to keep an eye on.
