Calvin, I did not do any voltage readings etc. The fact that my car has 130,000 miles on it and the CPS had never been changed, along with the symptoms described in my earlier post, led me to conclude that the CPS was the problem.
Everything is back together again, and, she is running just fine.
Incidentally, I learned the hard way that a 1/4 inch drive and a T30 Torx along with a short extension works much better than a 3/8 drive and long extension. Getting the Torx screw and the heat shield over the CPS was a pain until I figured out that a 1/4 inch drive was a much easier method- at least for me it was.
