Just passed the three-year mark, and if anything, we like it more all the time. (Green/beige cloth, 2.3 5-spd., now running Yokohama Avid V4s)
This car is flat-out wonderful in so many ways: sport, fun, comfort, convenience, utility, reliability, and a certain taut look which, if not beautiful, remains very attractive in that special Saab way.
My wife says, "I'm still just as much intrigued with it as when we first got it!"
Service has been super, first at Deel Saab, Miami, FL (purchased it there), and now at Secor Saab, New London, CT. Various minor items have been taken care of painlessly, along with factory-specified upgrades/recalls. I do worry, though, about the cost of an SID module out of warranty!
The interior remains a pleasure--and here I'll definitely say, tastefully beautiful. Re. controls, there is simply nothing there, ergonomically, that grates or nags over time. Superb design makes for great comfort and freshness after hours at the wheel.
OK, one quibble re. the computer: I wish the control were on the stalk a la VW/Audi, and the display with the instruments. However I do see the benefit of more space for the display, and visibility/usage for passengers, in the center dash.
I've recently made trips through northern New England and NY/NJ/PA--challenging driving with narrower roads than the South, and often in poor condition, with higher density and bad weather. In every case, the Saab is simply super! It gives me total confidence, never putting a foot wrong, always giving me options to get through the tough spots(acceleration, handling, braking). Plus, I always feel COMPLETELY SAFE!
We've been tempted by special deals to get an '01 or '02, and may yet trade one day, but frankly, we're very happy with what we have, and look forward to staying with our Saab satisfaction for some time to come!
