I agree about funny climate control noises, but keep in mind that if there is a significant induction air leak, the ECU will try to compensate by spinning the turbo faster to maintain power. Even slight uphill grades at 90 mph may cause the boost to build, and it won't show on the "Turbo" gage because a portion of the air is leaking into the atmosphere rather than going into the intake manifold.
On the other hand, an intake leak ought to be easy to verify by simply rolling down the window and getting on the gas. Leaks don't generally come and go; once you have one it only gets worse. So maybe I am wrong. That's what an experienced Saab tech is for - to explore these possibilities.
The Aero runs a hell of a lot of boost for a street car (up to 1.4 bar, I think - over 20 psi). I wonder how the hoses and connections hold up in the long term? Can anyone comment on this? My Aero has only 11,500 miles.
