Losing composure on bumps..... Posted by SaabNovice [Email] (#3416) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SaabNovice) on Mon, 11 Feb 2002 13:32:31 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I'm new to Saabs and just bought a 1999 9-5 SE 2.3 with 33K miles. The car has new OEM Michelin Energy tires. I notice that when I drive on moderately rough roads or cross pavement lines (the kind where they are repaving the road and the new pavement ends or begins) the car seems to lose its composure. It seems to hop a little more to the side than I am used to during straight line driving and cornering. My last car (BMW 328) didn't do this to this level on these roads so I am wondering:
1. Is this a Saab trait?
2. Is it because of the tire type?(the tires are new and pressure is good)
3. Could the shocks be worn at 33K?(they seem okay)
I'm just curious if I might need to investigate or if it's normal. It's not dangerous; it's just not quite what I'd expect from my past foreign car ownership experiences dating from the '70's to the present (Jags, Mercedes, Porsches, Audis, Ferrari, and BMW's). Thanks!
