Hope it's not too thin but most synthetics in the USA are now hydro-cracked mineral oil (Group 3), including Castrol. Ever since Group 3's were approved "in the USA" to be marked "Synthetic", manufacturers have been switching to Group 3 base stock as it's much cheaper to produce. I know for a fact that Amsoil is a lab produced group 4 oil (except their XL series), maybe Red-line too - Redline might even be a Group 5? Many posts on Google indicating Mobil 1 might now be a group 3 oil? Anyway, I've been told the Castrol Syntec 0W-30 is a group 4 (PAO) oil and the bottle does say "made in Germany" - so maybe it is? But it also says on the label to only be sold in the USA. Only found it at Autozone for their usual gouge pricing - $7 a quart. Amsoil in one of the stores here is $9 a quart. Anyone know for sure which oils are Group 4 or 5? Wondering if the 0W-30 is truly a Group 4? Anyone think the 0W-30 is too thin for the V6? I'll drive it tomorrow and see how it sounds. Thanks
