I assume you are installing the larger diameter air inlet pipe, the $15 upgrade that is the standard pipe on the Euro only diesel engines?
My old clamp was rusted so bad that I had to use my dremel with a cut-off wheel to slice through the clamp band, and I may have nicked the old pipe in the process making it easier to pull off. I don't remember as much difficulty as you are having, but I do remember that by the time I had replaced the filter element in the air box my wife had snaked the new larger pipe down behind the grille and past the oil cooler to the air box. She was smacking me in the head with it (accidentally she says now) while I was still tightening the air box cover screws.
