I was unsuccessful using the inexpensive DIN tools purchased at Wal-Mart until I modified the notches. My tools were manufactured with semi-circular notches, which meant they pulled out of the radio as easily as they pushed in. Not good for radio extraction!
I used a small file and modified each notch to a square edge. These square edges grabbed the tiny barb on the radio latch securely, and the radio popped right by pulling on the tools.
