I borrowed my sister's saab wagon- i think it's a 9 model, maybe early 00's- and when i went to close the tailgate, the mechanism somehow became jammed in closed/latched position so that there is a metal bar across its opening, meaning it can't latch, it just bounces off the bar it's supposed to latch around. I tried everything to try to get this bar to move and i can't get it to budge.
she's away, and it's parked on the street in manhattan with the tailgate obviously unlatched ...(at the moment i've got it tied from inside but that doesn't work well)... help!!!

i searched the posts and someone said to just move it with a screwdriver but i need more details... from where, and into what position? do you push it in/up from the opening, or pull it away (which hasn't worked), or what??? because i couldn't move it in any direction.

This happened to my sister once and she says some guy in a parking lot just unjammed it quickly some way, but she can't remember how.
