I posted a few days ago about a no start problem with my '01 9-5 wagon (2.3 L non-aero). It just cranks indefinitely without catching. I had assumed that it was the fuel pump because I had replaced the CPS and then it worked perfectly for about a week. The plugs are new, the TB is only 3 weeks old and the DIC is only a couple years old and shouldn't be giving me trouble so soon. So, thanks to some advice, I tried Herb Hirsch's fuel pump troubleshooting tests, and the fuel pump passed with flying colors. Then it seemed like the culprit was either the week-old CPS or the DIC. I went with the cheaper option and overnighted a new CPS. I just got finished putting that in and nothing's different (anyone need a CPS?). So, is it the DIC? I hate to drop $258 (eEuroparts--cheapest I could find by far) on a whim. Also, if it was a faulty DIC in the first place and not the CPS, is it just a coincidence that the car worked perfectly for a week after I replaced the CPS? In other words, can a failing DIC work intermittently? The car had restarted a couple times after sitting awhile before I replaced the first CPS, so I thought it was due to cooling down (telltale sign, right?). Hell could freeze over and it wouldn't start now.

thesaabsite.com describes a test to do on the DIC by taking it out and flipping it over, putting the plugs in, hooking each one up to the negative battery terminal with wires, turning over the engine and watching for sparks. That sounds like a recipe for blowing up my car or electrocuting myself. Is this really a legitimate test? What type of wire could I use?

I've been without my only car for far too long now and could use all the help I can get. Thanks.
