In acceleration, the pull of CL is not as strong as 9-5 until the engine reach 4000 rpm or higher. At highway speed CL settles around 1500-1800 rpm so to get instance acceleration I have to use the tiptronic; simply step on the gas peddle won't do it.
IMHO, one thing 9-5 does well is you get the same effortless turbo rush feel in 0-20mph, 35-55mph, or 65-85mph acceleration. In CL, it is simply not the case: either you don't feel the pull, or you get the pull while you are well over speed limit. The new manual transmission in 03 model might give better control.
It is this character that make 9-5SE such a balanced cruise machine. Just comparing engine spec tell you nothing.
There are other things Acura does better than SAAB. But in the areas of driving feel and balanced power/tran I think 9-5SE has the advantage.
