In not too much more time the rust will change from a red to brown color, and the cast iron surface will be sealed by the iron-oxide from further rusting and discoloration.
The only other option is to remove the rotors, thoroughly wire-brush them, prime the "hat" area, then paint the "hat" area with a brake paint. Usually black or dark brown. The same shade of dark brown the rotors will achieve when left alone,without any added work by you.
