It is important to replace both tensioner pulleys as well as the third idler pulley when replacing the timing belt. Most likely one of the other pulleys that were not replaced failed. When you drop in the new engine, just make sure that it gets all three pulleys replaced in the timing setup as well as the belt. Also check the oil cooler for leaks while they have the timing cover off as it is easier to access during this time. Otherwise, the V6 is very reliable. The other day on cr*igslist, I saw a 9-5 V6 for sale with 300,000 miles on it!!! (give or take a few hundred miles). I emailed them asking if it was the original engine and they said yes!
