There are a lot of posts regarding the highbeam modification going back a bit. However, here is a quick run down:

I used a jumper wire with a 15 amp auto fuse. Under relay 666 are about 5 wires or so. I lifted the relay panel and there are wires 87a and 87. I think they are labled on the panel as 5 and 7? The posts will specify. The color of wires for my 2003 9-5 are white and 2 violet, it won't matter which violet one you use. I used box crimps to connect the jumper to the wires and I wrapped electrical tape around the wires to add more strength to the connections. Others will say that you may be better off to solder the jumper to the connectors, but I have not had any issues in 2 years. Plus I was still under warrenty at the time and I wanted an easy way to reverse the connection if needed.

It took me over 2 hours of reseach on the board before I felt comfortable messing around with electrical, but it took less than 10 minutes to do and was one of the easiest things to modify. Now when I pull the stalk to engage the highbeams, the xenon shutters pop up and the inboard halogens come on. A huge difference on a rural road, night and day.

Later years may not allow this modification because there are no inboard halogens available. Should be able to do it through 2005 9-5s.

As I said, run a search for "Relay 666" and there will be enough information to help you with doing this.
