Sport Suspension.. Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Mon, 29 Dec 2008 15:05:31 In Reply to: I drove AERO but not 04-05 Arc to compare..., Kurt, Mon, 29 Dec 2008 08:17:50 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The Arcs have the higher ride height and softer ride. It's all a matter of taste. My buddy who I sold a 2004 Arc to now with 100,000+ miles just got a steal on a 17" set of wheels and he's always been after stiffer suspension and now feels he really needs a taughter ride. He lives at the end of a 15 mile twisty road called Wildcat Canyon......
The lower ride height of the Aero sport suspension can cause problems with the front spoiler scraping. The 04-05 Arcs have the previous Aero 00-03 front spoiler but at the higher ride height. The 04-05 Aeros have a revised front fascia that's a little better over the curbs than the previous 00-03 spoiler set up.
My 2000 Aero is in the bodyshop right now for a new front spoiler and I'm not putting the Aero spoiler back on, but rather the 99-03 Arc/Linear front spoiler.
I've always thought the Aero sport suspension ride was pretty decent and not too harsh for the average person who doesn't car about those things.
One of the things to note about an 04-05 Arc is that the options are all stand alone and not standard like they once were for 02-03 Arcs. So the premium package (standard on the Aero), visibility package, xenons and what not are mix and match. The 04-05 Arcs even came with a 17" tire and wheel package, but still the standard suspension and ride height, with my favorite Saab wheel, double three spokes.
