Can a dealer put a used part in under warranty? Posted by turrbo [Email] (#8) [Profile/Gallery] (more from turrbo) on Tue, 20 Jan 2009 13:10:35 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The ECU on my dad's '04 9-5 (under warranty) was diagnosed as bad. The car was starting, idling rough, then stalling in a few seconds. I have my doubts but that's not the issue here. His generally-incompetant dealer wants to put a used ECU in rather than a new one. Can a customer demand a new part when it is covered under warranty? I'm tempted to call my awesome dealer and ask them, but I don't want to unleash two service departments on each other.
Thanks - Sort of glad my 9000 doesn't ever have to deal with warranty issues since it hasn't been under warranty since 1999.
