I have a 2000 Aero with 138,000 miles on it. I have owned it since 2003/30k. Oil changes every 5k without fail using Saab semi-synth at first, and for the past 3 years full synthetic. The car is always fully warmed up on every trip.
I thought I was safe since I was so careful about oil changes on time, however, two weeks ago my oil light flickered on. Ended up dropping the oil pan, and the pickup screen was about 85% clogged with "coffee grounds".
So even with your frequent oil changes, you may have sludging issues. I would put a high probability on the pick-up screen being clogged. This is a very bad situation if the engine has been running with reduced/low oil pressure for any amount of time. (Lucky for me, I was only about 5 minutes away from my brother's house when the light came on. Although it was still running with reduced pressure for a while before that.)
Good luck with what you find, and DO NOT RUN THE ENGINE UNTIL YOU DROP THE PAN.
