I have a 2002 aero wagon and a nearly 5 year old girl who is about to reach 40 lbs weight. We are considering purchasing a new Britax Frontier car seat as it allows use of a 5-point harness until she reaches around 80lbs and would thus be safer than the usual booster seats that use the car seat belt for restraint. This car seat has the option of attaching using the latch system. The Frontier manual (available online) recommends checking your owners manual to see what the max load rating for the latch system is on your car since as the kid gets heavier you might exceed the load rating and have to switch to anchoring the car seat with a seat belt.

There is no mention of a max load rating in my 2002 manual.

My dealer didn't have a clue.

I called Saab USA and they couldn't provide an answer, instead they referred me to the NHTSA website or my dealer. Of course on the NHTSA site they say to consult your car manufacturer to check the load rating.

I also emailed Saab USA about a week ago and have not gotten a response.

Anyone know the load rating of the Saab latch system vintage 2002 or know how to get than information???

Anyone have any experience with the Britax Frontier or other of the new booster seats with high load ratings for 5-point harnessing?

I have to say that for a car company that has prided itself on car safety it is pretty disconcerting to get the kind of response I have seen....

Thanks
